The data sources used to construct the profiles vary in line with their specific subject matter, but include a range of survey Microdata from Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Confidentialised Unit Record Files (CURFS), Census and other statistical data. Where appropriate, for profiles such as expenditure data, values are projected to current time periods, taking into account factors such as consumption shifts, population growth and price inflation.
Production methods used for the profiles also vary by subject matter and include mathematical optimisation and predictive modelling techniques.
geoProphet® needs profiles are available at CD, postcode and higher geographic levels such as retail trade areas and representative territories.
Most of the profiles are also ideal for database enhancement & profiling using rda’s proprietary easyTag® adaptive data tagging system. With easyTag®, the accuracy of the tagging process is enhanced by using factual information from individual customer records. When used as database tags, geoProphet® needs profiles tend to be better predictors than general purpose geodemographic schemes like geoSmart®.
rda’s geoProphet® production system is highly flexible, so geoProphet® needs profiles can be readily provided on a customised basis, including…
- Merchandise baskets.
- Incidence variables such as investment property ownership or household medical insurance coverage.
- Expenditure by market segments (such as, Persons 65+ years of age or AB Young singles).
- The concentration of sub-populations at CD level, eg % of AB households with a 35-44 year old female main income earner.
